Sweet Thai chili sauce is incredibly versatile and can be used in various ways: such as dipping sauce, marinade, condiment or salad dressing. Sweet Thai chili sauce is a delightful addition to many dishes, offering a perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and tangy flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger root, minced
  • 2 teaspoons hot chili pepper, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water, as needed

Instructions

  1. Pour water and vinegar into a saucepan; bring to a boil over high heat.
  2. When it reaches boil stir in sugar, ginger, chili pepper, ketchup, and the garlic. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. While its simmering place the cornstarch in a small bowl; mix in the water until it's smooth.
  4. Whisk the cornstarch mixture into chili sauce.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the stove and pour the very hot mixture into a sterilized canning jar with a new seal and lid or you can place the cooled mixture into a regular jar or container and refrigerate it until its needed.
