Embracing a plant-based lifestyle was my conscious choice to nourish not only my body but also my values. It's a journey that not only revitalizes my health but also connects me to a world of compassion and sustainability.

My story

In 2010, I made the decision to adopt a gluten-free lifestyle, followed shortly by going dairy-free. Prior to this, I experienced a range of health issues including daily headaches, back pain, joint pain, swelling, chronic fatigue, mental fog, shortness of breath, insomnia, anemia, bloating, digestive issues, sinus infections, and hives.

For a few years, I struggled to find suitable food alternatives and often found myself thinking I could indulge in certain foods just for a day. It was challenging when others didn't understand why I couldn't eat certain things, making it difficult to navigate social situations like eating out or attending family gatherings. However, I eventually realized that there are no cheat days when the aftermath of consuming those foods caused more suffering than the fleeting enjoyment they provided. This realization led me to commit to a 100% gluten-free lifestyle.

During my research, I discovered that gluten and dairy are hidden in many everyday items such as toothpaste, gum, prescriptions, shampoos, and more. I had to educate myself on the scientific names used to identify these ingredients in order to avoid accidental ingestion. As I delved deeper into understanding the impact of gluten and dairy on my health, I also discovered that our three children were experiencing similar side effects. They joined me on this journey towards a healthier lifestyle.

Since then, I have focused on maintaining a generally healthy diet. However, after being diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer in the summer of 2020, I made the decision to go 100% plant based after extensive research on the dangers and negative effects of consuming meat. This decision was further reinforced by my growing awareness of the environmental impact of factory farming and the inhumane treatment of animals. It became clear to me that I couldn't ignore the need for this lifestyle change.

I have found that adopting a plant-based lifestyle is surprisingly easy and offers numerous health benefits. It has also opened my eyes to the importance of sharing my experiences and knowledge with others. That's why I have decided to share some of my favorite gluten-free vegan recipes and sustainable products. My hope is to help others transition into a lifestyle that not only benefits their health and the well-being of their families but also contributes to the protection of our planet and the animals that share it with us.
