Shake and Bake Homemade Blend
This gluten-free vegan shake and bake recipe provides a delicious and wholesome alternative to traditional breaded coatings. With a blend of gluten-free flours and savory seasonings, it's perfect for coating tofu, vegetables, or plant-based proteins before baking, delivering a crispy texture and satisfying flavor without any animal products or gluten
- 2/3 cup gluten free bread crumbs
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons gluten free flour
- 2-3 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon celery salt
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a medium sized bowl add all the ingredients minus the oil.
- Blend really well with a whisk or spoon. You could also place everything in a container with a lid and shake until mixed really well.
- Now add in the oil and blend really well again.
- Store your Shake and Bake mix in a glass container with lid. This can be stored in your cupboard and will last up to a year.
*To coat your tofu, vegetables or food you are using just place some of the mix in a ziplock bag allowing a lot of air in the bag and shake well until coated. If its not enough mix for coating add more in small amounts. If there is some left over mix left in the bag you can freeze this until ready to use again so as not to waste it. It can also be used in your vegan meatloaf mix or homemade vegan hamburger mix.
